Simple and clean. Let us know what you think…
Beta Update
A lot has been going on in the world of edopter, and we wanted to give you a quick update.
MAJOR REDESIGN
We have been working hard to simplify and streamline the site. The biggest change is how the trend pages look: big icons, big text, and a simpler layout.Check out an example here
We also implemented a more powerful share tool for each trend. Found something you are dying to share with your friends? Simply click the “Share this Trend” button to email or post it to your favorite link-sharing site.
More updates coming soon to the homepage and portfolio pages, get the latest updates right here.
GET THE LATEST
Several people have asked us to make it easier to discover the latest trends added to edopter. We just activated the first of several RSS feeds. A bigger selection of feeds will be available within a week, so be sure to follow the edopter blog.

EDOPTER GOES MOBILE
Finally, we’re working on mobile version of edopter and we’re going to need some help testing it. If you’d like to get an early look, email mobile@edopter.com
Thanks to everyone who has shared their feedback and ideas, we wouldn’t be at this stage without your help and support over the past few months. If you have a thought you’d like to share with us, let us know!

Gotta focus on the small group to get the big group
At the end of the day, when (if) you are lucky enough to find/delight your core group of passionate users - you need to keep focusing on that group and remember what you do better than anyone else. And adding more value to that community will actually widen your appeal ultimately.
It’s very tempting to add a bazillion features and expand to vertically integrate all sorts of bells & whistles.
But to go big it’s sometimes critical to focus on the small.
This concept has been in our heads since we started building edopter.com
We’ve spent the past few months focused on improving the experience on edopter and making it easier and more fun to interact around trends. Thanks to the input and ideas of our users, we just launched the first of several redesigns on the site. Check out the new trend page designs! If you have any thoughts, let us know…

The Next Big Thing(s) for edopter
We just launched the first stage of the new homepage on edopter. We’ve spent the past couple weeks working on new features, with a focus on making it easier to find new trends (and keep track of trends that you are in on). I think the homepage is the most important page on the site, as it represents all of the activity and buzz building across the site.
1. WHAT’S NEXT
We had a lot of feedback on the trend promo blocks, and we’ve cleaned them up so that they focus on the best of the new and active trends on the site. It’s still fully dynamic, so if you want to see an up-to-the-minute snapshot of new and active trends, simply refresh the page. We’ve also grouped the blocks so that they feature trends from all six categories.
2. THE WIRE
We decided to level up the activity feed and make it much more powerful and interactive. You can now see several days worth of content added to trends across the site, and can drill-down into the feed to see the activity within trends that you are in on. We’ll be adding some new elements to The Wire over the next week which will make it easy to see the growth and popularity of trends as you glance across the feed.
There are still a few more features coming to the homepage, so make sure to check it out!
We’re continuing to work on making edopter a more powerful and fun site, and this is the first of a few major changes we’ll be making over the next few days. If you have any feedback or thoughts, we’d love to hear from you!

BBC 'Click' Reviews Edopter
The BBC show Click reviewed us in their Webscape portion. Here is what they had to say:
“Sounds like the latest new craze - very possibly. For more thoughts on what will be getting the world talking, point your browser at edopter.com.
This site may look quite simple but I love the concept. It is a place for people to share thoughts and ideas on what might become the next in-vogue trend, everything from TV shows to food tastes to fashion accessories.
Posts range from the brilliant to the bizarre. Take a scroll through the front page selection or use the tabs at the top to browse or launch a trend or see how it works.
Each trend section contains an overview, the pitch, and a space for images, videos, and chat. If you agree with the trend just click the Get In button.
You will need to be registered for this function which is simple and quick. When browsing by trend don’t forget to use the sort options at the top to direct your search.”
10 Things to make the site better
Andy and I are extremely happy with the way things have gone so far. We had over 100 trends started in the first 10 days. We know you guys are working hard, and appreciate your dedication.
We too have been working hard. Our goal was to finish 10 valuable additions to the website in the first month. I’d like to talk about two: new icons and enhanced image uploads. We worked with a great company called Turbomilk to create icons that would complement our design and help to illustrate how social trendcasting works. We think the final icons turned out awesome. Check them out: how it works.
We’ve also updated the process of adding images to trends, and your portfolio, even easier (the site now accepts images up to 5 mb in size). Try it out by uploading a new picture to your portfolio. Our goal is to continue to make things even easier on the site, and to make edopter work for you.
Next, we will talk about what took the majority of the last two weeks… social trendcasting.
